Robert Half are working in partnership with Brewers on an exclusive and retained basis to recruit a new and exciting Commercial Finance Manager.

Based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, this role is offering the chance to join a rapidly expanding business in the next stage of their evolution.

The Role

The successful Commercial Finance Manager will play an integral role in the Leadership Team, overseeing the commercial finance division and focusing on commercial analysis, business performance improvement and commercial strategy.

You will work closely with the CFO, Commercial Director and Leadership Team to design, implement and manage a performance framework that delivers insightful analysis and real time insight as required to support and drive profitability in the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and oversee the company commercial reporting function covering both regular monthly reporting and ad hoc commercial analysis as required by the Leadership and Management team.
  • Be the go to person for insight into performance. Monitor and provide concise analysis of the company commercial performance, in particular relating to sales and gross margin and understanding variances, identifying opportunities for improvement in all commercial aspects of the business.
  • Management of the management reporting team consisting of three analysts. You will work closely with them to oversee their development and manage their contribution, delivering a culture of finance partnering being at the heart of decision making in the business.
  • Deliver a business partnering approach to support the head office commercial teams, particularly the Purchasing department in a category management type reporting approach.
  • Oversee the system based reporting to maximise the benefit of the Management Information systems and technologies.
  • Demonstrate curiosity into to all drivers of profitability, delivering suggestions and appropriately challenging the current methods. This will include the pricing architecture, customer based terms matrix and the assessment of manual discounting, providing insight to the Sales and Purchasing teams.
  • Provide financial acumen within the Commercial team and collaborate closely with the Head of Finance to ensure the Commercial and Finance teams are connected through:
  • Accurate gross margin estimation covering both system and additional margin factors.
  • Robust revenue accounting is provided by the monitoring of customer rebates and advanced orders that are considerable drivers of profitability.
  • Responsibility for sales forecasting and sales based analytics.

Your Profile

The successful Commercial Finance Manager is likely to be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) and have a strong academic background. Exposure to working within a multi-site Retail / Wholesale environment would be advantageous. The ability to really understand things from a consumer perspective is key, other transferable sectors may include FMGC.

Culturally, this would suit a bright minded individual who has the ability to influence and communicate at all levels. This role will involve managing cross-functional relationships and influencing change across a talented and diverse organisation.
