Based in the Chester area, my client is a rapidly expanding business support company that has quickly grown to revenues of over £35m and a 5 year plan that will see them grow turnover tenfold. Joining the business in a newly created role to meet current and future business demands, you will report directly to the Finance Director in a broad all-encompassing Senior Management Accountant role with responsibilities including:

  • Responsible for the finance team - comprising 2 Management Accountants and a transactional team, 8 in total - providing hands on support, direction and development to ensure the timely and accurate completion of their duties
  • Management of the workflow and performance of the finance team to ensure that service standards, targets and quality are achieved and maintained - striving to achieve best in class service delivery to all internal and external customers.
  • Management Account preparation across your own portfolio within the group as well as overall responsibility for the Group Consolidated management accounts
  • Ensuring the provision of timely and valuable management and operational information across the business - developing, maintaining and expanding a range of reports in order to assist budget holders in the effective management of their costs & revenue targets
  • Detailed analysis & reporting relating to both revenue & costs to support the senior management team in making key business decisions
  • Reviewing the company profit & loss account - and relevant sections of the Balance Sheet of each group company - providing supplementary reporting, analysis and support to all brand directors and the Executive team.
  • Responsibility for obtaining, collating and verifying information on a monthly basis for inclusion in Executive management pack.
  • Taking a key role in the preparation for the annual budget and re-forecasts and management of associated balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensuring best practice is developed and maintained across all areas of the finance function.
  • Working closely with Directors, department heads and Brand Directors, reporting and reviewing actual and forecast performance at both detailed and summary level.
  • First point of contact for external auditors - playing a key role in the annual statutory audits working to ensure the group are compliant and achieves a clean audit each year.
  • Responsibility for the accurate allocation of Group Company costs against each relevant brand company.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements across all Finance processes (including profit and loss reporting and month-end process, reporting and analysis, etc.) to meet the current and evolving needs of this rapidly expanding business

Applicants will be Fully Qualified Management Accountants with previous staff management experience and a proven the ability to motivate, lead and develop others. You will have a professional, committed and organised approach and a hunger for driving results, continuous improvement and a top class customer service focus. Good analytical skills, attention to detail and good communication skills are all essential to this role as is the ability to work under pressure, to use judgement, to make decisions and to adapt to change. This is a brilliant time to be joining the business in a key role which is No 2 to the Finance Director. The potential of this role is massive and the Finance Director has no doubt that, once settled into the remit of this role, the successful applicant could quickly take on additional responsibilities as he is looking to delegate further duties and responsibility in time. A competitive salary - envisaged £40-45k, but potentially with some flexibility to attract the right person - is complimented with benefits including 25 days holiday, Pension and Healthcare.
