Badenoch & Clark are currently working with a large, prestigious organisation based in Peterborough who are looking to recruit an Indirect Tax Manager. Reporting to the Group Head of Indirect Tax the key elements of the role will include:

The Indirect Tax Manager will support and give advice to the business. The work will include managing accurate and timely submissions of all associated UK Indirect Tax returns. The work also requires monitoring the Indirect Tax position whilst demonstrating compliance with all tax legislation, including compliance with SAO requirements. Some travel within the UK may be required.

Key accountabilities / responsibilities

The role is working in a busy Finance and Tax team running the day to day management of Indirect Tax for the business. You will be part of Group Finance and Tax, and embedded in the business. You will be improving compliance management along with Senior Accounting Officer risk and controls to ensure the business operates within the tax law as efficiently as possible as well as the below:
* To review the accuracy of the Tax returns prepared by the Indirect Tax accountant
* Identify opportunities to optimise the Indirect Tax profile working within the tax parameters set by the authorities
* Implement processes and controls to improve Indirect Tax compliance
* Advise on all aspects of Indirect Tax legislation to keep relevant stakeholders within the business up to date with current issues and ensure that they are operating in a tax optimal manner
* Prepare and deliver, as appropriate, training on Indirect Taxes
* Advise on the Indirect Tax aspects of business initiatives, new operations and projects
* Working flexibly as part of a wider Indirect Tax team
* Provide support to Group Head of Indirect Taxes in respect of:
o HMRC business risk reviews and all Indirect Tax audits
o Working with the in-house finance and legal teams to develop a collaborative approach to Indirect Tax matters
Skills and experience

The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of Indirect Tax matters whilst being an excellent communicator with the ability to articulate and convey the options and benefits of pursuing recommendations to key stakeholders. The ability to work in a complex, fast paced legal entity group is also required along with experience in dealing with HMRC and in-house finance teams. Pro-activity is key for this role and having a can do mind set.
