A listed Oil Business in London are seeking the addition of a technically strong, qualified accountant, to join their Group Finance team as an Accounting Policy Adviser.
The successful applicant will be fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) with a background from an audit practice. Group reporting experience in a large, listed business is highly advantageous as you will need a deep knowledge of International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRS) and application of IFRS in complex situations.
Experience of large group consolidations and external financial reporting combined with strong impact and interpersonal skills (an ability to work with contacts at all levels of the organisation) will be required.
This is a high profile role dealing daily with external stakeholders, including the Chief Accounting Officer and key responsibilities will consist of:
- Contributing to the quarterly financial reporting process - review Stock Exchange Announcement (each quarter), Annual Report and Accounts (annual) and completing relevant disclosure checklists and contribute to disclosure continuous improvement as required.
- Responsibility for ongoing accounting policy and disclosure activities
- Review of new accounting pronouncements and developments in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to assess impact on my client's accounting and financial reporting processes and development of new/amended accounting policies and system coding to
address the new requirements.
- Liaison with local finance teams and business segments, globally, to ensure that new accounting pronouncements are understood and restated data is prepared as required.
- Working with other teams within the business to explain external financial reporting changes e.g. group planning/MI teams, Investor Relations, Treasury, Tax etc.
- Management of the Group Reporting Manual website content and associated communications to the global financial reporting community.
- Drafting of Main Board Audit Committee papers on external financial reporting topics as necessary.
- Involvement in ad hoc reporting projects or unusual transactions as necessary.
