Frazer John Recruitment (Finance) are currently looking for a Group Accountant to join a large healthcare business based out of Liverpool. My client is looking for a strong finance professional to provide sound financial management and a strong control environment to achieve the financial targets and support the overall strategy of the business.

Main Purpose:

 The post requires the post holder to be able to deputies for the Director of Finance as and when required ensuring excellent interpersonal and communication skills are used to maintain excellent relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
The post holder is responsible for leading and developing a high performing finance team ensuring efficient and effective services are delivered to meet current and future demands across all regions.

Dimensions:

This role has budgetary responsibility up to £300k.
This role has a team of 1 direct report and a team of 3 in total.

Key Result Areas:
  • Support the Director of Finance in the development of the Financial Plan ensuring that it is robustly developed and all what if scenarios are appropriately tested.
  • To deputise for the Director of Finance.
  • To be an active member of the senior management team making contributions that furthers the aims of the business.
  • Ownership and delivery of the organisational budget setting process in line with committee deadlines and ensuring the inclusion and buy in of all budget holders.
  • Coordinate and help develop the regional finance business intelligence leads.
  • Coordinate both corporate and regional finance personnel and develop a framework to share best practice across regions.
  • The production of all performance information and reporting across the organisation in an accurate and timely manner, including reports for committees and the Board.
  • Present reports to the Board (as requested), Committees and Management to monitor all performance.
  • Hold budget holders to account in the delivery of performance to targets / budgets supporting the production of corrective action plans where appropriate.
  • Manage the production of ad hoc financial information in the support of decision making across the organisation.
  • Work in partnership through Business Intelligence Leads and with budget holders to maintain an accurate forecast position for each budget and the organisation as a whole.
  • Set a person centred culture and standard of excellence across Finance personnel that translate into excellent service delivery to the organisation. Ensure that all staff are clear about their purpose and role and that they are developed to their full potential.  
 
  • Direct budget responsibility of the finance budget and authorising expenditure within delegated authorities.
  • Ensure the responsibilities outlined in the Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions and Scheme of Delegation are understood and adhered to.
  • Maintain and further develop a strong financial control environment through the ownership of all finance policies and procedures ensuring that they are kept up to date and within legislative and audit requirements.
  • Set the pricing policy each year and ensure that any price for support provided to individuals complies with this policy. Develop the pricing policy for new areas of support in line with the principals set out in the financial strategy.
  • Ensure any recommendations from External and Internal Audit within finance are acted upon and reported back as part of the progress report to the Audit and Risk Committee.
  • Actively manage cash and cash flow in collaboration with the treasury accountant with the achievement of target debtor days and creditor days set by the Performance Committee.
  • Manage and oversee the accounts of a wholly owned subsidiary in collaboration with treasury accountant.
  • Production of the statutory company and consolidated accounts on an annual basis (with minimum audit adjustments) in line with audit requirements and to time.
  • Ensure that all assets are safeguarded across the organisation and that any movement or disposal of assets is in line with policy requirements.
  • Work across the organisation to improve the skills of financial management across budget holders.
  • Develop a positive working relationship with the Bank, auditors and key professionals.
  • Provide the organisation with up to date information about the implications of any changes to accounting or tax legislation.
  • Be the system owner for all financial software ensuring that data is stored accurately and securely and that systems are developed in the pursuit of efficiency and the delivery of excellence and in accordance with the digital strategy of the organisation.

Salary:

£55,000 + bonus and excellent benefits
