Assistant Accountant

Elevation Accountancy & Finance are currently recruiting for a forward thinking and dynamic Manufacturing business based in Barnsley. Due to an internal restructure, they are currently seeking a determined and ambitious Senior Finance Assistant to work within their team.

The initial focus will be to assist in covering the Credit Control function from start to finish but you will also be given additional tasks from the outset in order to assist with the month end and Management Accounts. There is the strong possibility of being able to progress within the department in the future and take on further duties in time as well.

Duties will include:

- Assisting with month-end process and production of Management Accounts
- Working on various management accounting projects alongside the Financial Controller
- Accruals and Prepayments
- Posting Journals
- Analysis of accounts and management reports
- Credit Control duties - Chasing outstanding payments to agreed timescales
- Aged debt reporting
- Allocating payments to accounts
- Resolving issues and dealing with queries
- Investigating issues through talking with various other departments
- Conducting client visits

To be successful for this role you will have the following:-

- Degree within an accounts related subject
- AAT or CIMA/ ACCA part qualified
- Have previous experience within credit control/ all round accounts
- Have the ability to work pro-actively within a team
- Have a good working knowledge of Excel
- Possess good organisation skills
- Have excellent interpersonal skills to deal with customers and external contacts

This will be a varied role which will report directly into the Financial Controller and will ideally suit someone looking to gain more exposure in accounts whilst doing their further studies.
