An opportunity exists for an Assistant Manager within the Energy and Natural Resources group within the Corporate Tax function. this will be a combined advisory and compliance role. Advisory assignments will be wide ranging and include a mix of international, M&A and other adhoc advisory work.

The Client's Tax practice is a dynamic and successful area of the business. Working in the Corporate Tax department will give you the opportunity to develop relationships with clients as you help manage the amount of corporation tax they need to pay. This involves working with clients to produce complex tax computations and returns for HM Revenue & Customs, giving advice on corporate planning and restructuring projects.


The team provides corporate tax compliance, advisory and accounting services to a range of clients across all lines of the sector including oil and gas, mining, power and renewables. Clients include FTSE100 companies, inbound investors, oil majors and independents.



  • Providing tax advisory services to a variety of clients and managing the successful delivery of commercially viable and technically excellent advice to a variety of clients involving tax due diligence, structuring, international and other advisory work and including liaising with specialists in Indirect Tax, Stamp Taxes and overseas offices to manage their input
  • Reviewing corporation tax computations and managing the compliance process
  • Undertaking tax audits for clients under UK GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP
  • Liaising with the client service team and with colleagues in other tax disciplines as well as the audit and accounting function to provide a co-ordinated service to the client
  • Ensuring that clients are kept up to date on developments within the corporate tax world that may affect their businesses
  • Helping to prepare proposals for new work, including researching target and client companies and on technical issues to identify new solutions
  • Keeping internal control records up to date and ensuring compliance with quality control procedures
  • Dealing with client billing


The Individual

  • Experience of working with oil and gas companies, including the upstream sector preferable but not essential
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of UK corporation tax legislation
  • Takes personal responsibility and accountability for own work

  • Educated to degree level, preferably with a 2.1 grade or above
  • ACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent qualified with strong UK corporate tax and accounting knowledge
