The role of Retail Accounts Payable Manager:
- Ensure adequate and robust stock provisions are calculated and held
- To assist in the preparation and delivery of financial budgets and forecasts, managing inherent risks and opportunities.
- Develop and manage cashflow reporting, analysis and budgeting especially within Stock, Trade Creditors and Store Takings.
- Deliver financial plans with insight of key drivers and manage inherent risk and opportunities in Trade Creditors and Stock
- Prepare and complete period end reporting, including provision of insightful analytical commentary on variances for Senior Management
- Drive new initiatives to improve the efficiency of stock, looking at ways to decrease weeks cover, reduce overstocks and highlight risks and opportunities whilst maintaining the corporate availability targets
- Responsible for Trade Creditor budget and forecasting, including ongoing development of budget model, explanation of numbers to the Head of Finance
- Oversee currency requirements relating to future trading
- To manage a team of Accounts Payable staff responsible for the processing of all domestic and direct import invoices and the resolution of any queries. These include non payment of aged invoices, shortages and pricing disputes
- To ensure that all supplier payments are made in an effective and efficient manner in order that payment is made in accordance with the agreed trading terms and conditions.
- Responsible for the set-up of new suppliers on all of the company systems and to ensure there are no issues with their invoicing, deliveries and accounting etc.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business and wider group
- To provide all ad hoc financial support as required.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- It is ESSENTIAL that you have worked within a similar role within retail previously
- Professional with analytical and commercial experience preferably in a large company environment
- Ability to communicate and influence effectively across grades and departments
- Self starter with an ability to think "outside of the box"
- Well developed interpersonal skills, customer focused and an ability to build and maintain good working relationships
- 'Can-do' attitude, comfortable with a fast pace and switching between competing priorities.
- Able to solve problems without direction and present outcomes
- Highly organised with the ability to self-manage
- Strong systems skills - Excel (to macro level an advantage), Access, Microsoft Dynamics AX experience would be advantageous
- Ability to consolidate large volumes of data whilst adhering to tight timescales
- Ability to understand a highly-technical area of Finance
- The role will involve working with Senior Management as well as all colleagues within Buying and Merchandising and Finance. As such, an ability to communicate across all levels of the business will be essential.
