Management Account

A fantastic opportunity has come up with a leading international insurer. They are looking for someone to join the business as a Management Accountant to be part of the FP&A team responsible for the production of management information to support the finance and senior management team in monitoring and managing the business. There will be particular emphasis on MI communication and reporting to key stakeholders both internal and external to the finance department, external stakeholders (e.g. ratings agencies, member's agents and Lloyd's), auditors and actuaries.

Key responsibilities:

  • Produce and enhance MI reports that accurately communicate the performance of the business and meet the needs of management.
  • Liaise with management and other departments to ensure that the MI remains both relevant and useful.
  • To critically review financial data prior to management review.
  • Maintain the Financial Reporting and ensure complete for quarterly reporting purposes.
  • Produce Mini MI's supported with robust analysis and commentary.
  • Ensure the company quarterly and monthly reports to Head Office and the Board are complete, robust, understood and communicated.
  • Produce Company specific MI, including the company committee report.
  • Develop MI, analytical review and commentary supporting the year of account and one year accounting position/performance.
  • Production of the annual syndicate report and accounts.
  • Ensuring the FP&A team deliver information that is right first time (reliable, timely, challenged, controlled and thoroughly reviewed).
  • Liaison with auditors and actuaries.
  • Liaison with other departments to enhance knowledge transfer e.g. Underwriting, Claims & Outwards RI.
  • Continually challenge practice and processes to ensure they meet best practice and changing requirements.
  • Maintain and develop MI systems, processes and controls including JSOX and Solvency II.
  • Involvement in ad-hoc projects.
  • Champion the company values and work in accordance with the organisational behaviours.
  • To be aware of and comply with the relevant rules and regulations in relation to financial crime & conduct.

Skills Knowledge and Experience

  • Newly qualified accountant (ACA).
  • Financial Services experience (insurance beneficial).
  • Self starter with a desire to develop their technical knowledge and skills.
  • Proactively provides accurate and timely updates on status of work and escalates issues.
  • Demonstrates an appropriate level of technical skills for their role.
  • Is able to deal with challenging deadlines and prioritises effectively.
