Your new company
Well established and growing niche manufacturing business are looking to recruit a qualified Accountant to join the business as Finance Controller.

Your new role
To be responsible for the leadership of the Finance Team in delivering a creative and inspiring finance service to the firm. Working closely with the Board and the Group Finance Director, the Financial Controller will provide leadership and guidance in all aspects of the firm's financial activities and will ensure the firm complies with its financial and regulatory responsibilities.
Reporting to the Managing Director you will manage a team of 2 and be responsible for:

  • Assume overall control of thebusiness' accounting function to include:
    • The design and operation of a framework of internal financial controls
    • The production of internal management information and KPI's
    • The production of annual audited accounts
    • Production of all information required by the tax authorities, including regular VAT returns, CIS information etc.
    • Formulation of financial targets and budgets in accordance with the strategy determined with the Board
    • Both weekly and monthly payroll
  • Monitoring of business performance
  • Monitoring of cash flow
  • The preparation and acceptance of the budget in conjunction with the group FD. Then implementing the necessary controls to monitor variances
  • To work with the Board on the design and implementation of the Company's long term strategy
  • To provide strong and motivational leadership to the finance team
  • To be responsible for the HR function of the business
  • Develop costing models to analyse actual labour, material and overhead costs against standard\budget and explain variances.
  • Development of new labour and overhead rates, budgets and forecasts as appropriate.
  • To develop standard cost data and its inclusion into the Company's software.
  • To prepare monthly gross margin analysis by product group by customer.
  • Produce a monthly valuation of work in progress and stock.
  • Responsible for new-product cost estimates and for providing recommendations for cost efficiency in any new-product designs.
  • Coordinate with IT department for system issues, maintenance and development of the business software.
  • Work on special projects as required



What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified accountant with statutory and management reporting experience ideally gained within a manufacturing environment and be an excellent communicator able to liaise at all levels from shop floor to board. You should have strong IT skills including Excel to an advanced level, be highly analytical, a good problem solver and have an enquiring mind.
