An exciting role for a talented, commercially driven finance professional to join a growth SME. This role will suit a self-motivated individual, able to operate at a senior level co-ordinating and managing all financial and management accounting.

Our client has been established for over 40 years as a manufacturer of niche products. Part of a larger Group that has six factories in the UK, two in China, one in Thailand and sales offices in the USA, Japan, India and China. The business was established and incorporated in 2002. Since then the company has grown mainly through acquisitions and was listed on the AIM market in London in 2007. Looking to grow further, organically and through further acquisitions, this is an exciting time to join the business and have a positive impact.

Detailed Job Description

  • Reporting to and working alongside the MD of this SME. The Finance Director will have the experience and necessary gravitas to cover for the Managing Real-time reporting to the managing director and group finance director on all significant financial issues
  • As part of the senior management team, focus on achieving the company's strategic initiatives
  • Produce and review relevant KPIs to support performance review and accountability
  • Monitoring the operating and financial results against plans and budgets, being proactive in recommending remedial action where necessary
  • Periodic and adhoc financial analysis including capacity, profitability, efficiency, productivity as required (or proactively provided) for guiding the managing director, executive team and their delegates, and/or the board
  • Responsible for the 5 year strategic financial plan
  • Preparation of the annual budget with support from senior management team
  • Challenge and contribute ideas and solutions towards any commercial and non-commercial actions and proposals at board or executive team meetings or in adhoc discussions.
  • Help produce, review and analyse monthly management accounts (comprising full profit & loss account, balance sheet and cash flow with commentary)
  • Preparing board papers and commercial briefings for the board meetings
  • Manage accounts team to ensure timely preparation of management accounts and financial information.
  • Ensure necessary financial controls are adhered to – e.g. credit control, payment of suppliers, stock takes
  • Prepare and manage year-end audit
  • Help prepare detailed budgets and forecasts which enable accurate measurement against actual performance
  • Maintain and develop IT systems and skills to meet evolving business needs

Candidate's Profile

Candidates must demonstrate a solid track record in a senior finance role with proven ability to operate effectively as part of a management team bringing financial and commercial priorities to decision making process. You will have strong commercial acumen, someone who thinks strategically and takes a proactive approach to finding effective solutions.The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant ACA, CIMA or ACCA with at least 5 years PQE. A background within the manufacturing sector would be highly advantageous as would experience within a similar level role. Candidates looking for a progression move from a senior Financial Controller will also be considered. You will be comfortable running a finance function, being hands on and also influencing at Board level. The right candidate will also have an enthusiastic, driven and self-motivated personality and the ability to quickly contribute to the culture and way of working. The ability to implement new strategies efficiently and effectively – identifying pragmatic solutions that can be developed and sustained. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential. This role will give the right candidate the opportunity to develop their team through effective mentoring and support as well as shape the future of the business.
