A higher education institution are actively seeking a management accountant to join their team. This role will be responsible for acting as business partner to budget holders, supporting the Head of Finance in preparation of management information for the Senior Management Team, Finance Committee and Governing Board and running the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes.
Main duties and responsibilities
- To act as business partner to budget holders including members of the Senior Management Team, academics and heads of support functions.
- To lead the process for regular (quarterly or monthly) reporting of management information to budget holders.
- To support the Head of Finance in the design and delivery of management reporting to the Senior Management Team, Finance Committee and Governing Board.
- To run the process for quarterly forecasting including a full ‘bottom up’ forecast at quarter 2.
- To run the budgeting process including preparing templates, addressing budget holders’ questions and supporting budget holders in preparation of their submissions.
- To support the Head of Finance in preparation of papers for approval of the budget at the Senior Management Team, Finance Committee and Governing Board.
- To prepare the trading subsidiary, SCTE, management accounts and support management in preparation of the SCTE budget.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent and a qualified accountant holding a recognize CIMA/ ACCA / CIPFA qualification or be a finalist
Knowledge and Experience
- Significant knowledge and experience of running or participating in budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Knowledge of management reporting good practice including variance analysis and non financial metrics.
- Knowledge and some experience of HE reporting
- Proven experience of working effectively with senior management from different disciplines.
