THE COMPANY

An industrial services business which has achieved a two-fold increase in turnover in recent years. The business is headquartered in Manchester and has a growing number of operating sites across the UK. Future growth is planned through a combination of targeted acquisitions and the opening of new depots.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The business now needs a strong Financial Controller capable of building an effective finance department and providing high quality accounting and commercial finance support to all areas of the business.

You will report to the Board, taking ownership of all aspects of financial and management accounts and supporting future business growth. Your role will be operational and strategic, eventually becoming a much more strategic FD position.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a finance department capable of providing efficient and effective accounting support to a growing multi-site business
  • Ensuring timely preparation of monthly management information and analysis including commentary for the board
  • Forecasting cash flow and initiating cash flow savings wherever necessary to ensure the requirements of the business are met
  • Review and implementation of finance policies and procedures in-line with future business growth
  • Various ad-hoc tasks (projects such as acquisitions/ integrations, process improvement and initiatives.

This role will offer a significant challenge to an experienced Financial Controller involving the building a new finance department and initiating a step-change in the quality of accounting & finance services provided to the business. Progression to Finance Director in 2 -3 years.

THE PERSON

You will be a qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / ACMA) currently working at Financial Controller level within a business experiencing growth and / or under going significant change.

You will be a strong manager capable of inspiring and motivating your team to deliver high quality work under pressure. As important will be your drive to achieve results for the business and your career focus, as this role guarantees progression to Finance Director.
