This well-established healthcare service organisation based near Welwyn is looking to recruit a Finance Director with experience of operating at Board level,  Bids and tenders gained in the NHS or Healthcare sector.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive you will be responsible for ensuring appropriate and strong financial governance and leadership for the organisation.  This includes directing and overseeing all financial activities including the preparation of current financial reports, budgets and forecasts and implementing robust financial plans and strategies to maximise opportunities and minimise risk.  This role also includes Company Secretarial responsibilities for the organisation.

The job holder will be a member of the Board of Directors and provide appropriate information and advice to the Board.  They will also be expected to represent the organisation and the Finance Directorate externally with Commissioners and other Stakeholders. The post holder will also provide innovative leadership for the IT and Corporate Services functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Formulating financial targets and budgets in accordance with the strategy determined by the Board
  • Overall control of all financial transactions and accountancy matters, including audit systems
  • Review reports and analyse projections of income and expenditure against actual figures and suggest methods of improving the planning process
  • Assess the long term financial trends and review prospects for future growth of income including joint ventures and innovative service developments
  • Contribute to the development of Company policy and strategy by being a member of the Board of Directors
  • Contribute to the Business growth by working closely with Business Development and ensuring all financial risk is mitigated
  • Acting as a key member of the leadership team.  Actively taking part in and advising on key business decisions
  • Leading on the cost improvement plans and driving change to ensure value for money
  • As Company Secretary ensure that the organisation complies with standard financial and legal practice and maintains high standards of corporate governance.
  • Lead of Risk Management
  • Provide leadership to the finance, IT and Corporate Services functions

Strong commercial and business acumen and excellent written and verbal communication skills are pre requisites. Applicants must hold a current UK driving license and have access to a vehicle for business purposes.

Applications will only be considered from Qualified accountants.  The successful candidate will be an adept motivator with excellent interpersonal skills used to mentoring and leading a team as this role has responsibility for a team of 13 reports (1 direct report and 12 indirect).

This is a permanent role paying up to £100,000 + 25 days holiday + Pension.
