About the role
In this largely progressive opportunity you will take an instrumental role in building our Tax proposition from the unique location of Exeter. Assisting the Head of Tax you will manage tax risk in relation to CFM funds, assist the Operations Oversight Team in the delivery of service and support new business, change and product development initiatives.
This is a fabulous career opportunity for candidates working in the Financial District of London or comparative locations who wish to remain in the FS sector but relocate, or move back to, the South West region.

What you will do:
- Assist the Head of Tax on new business and change activity, including product development, ensuring tax issues are identified, addressed and escalated appropriately; fund document review including prospectuses; provide tax support on product development as required
- Assist in providing tax MI to the Risk Committee, CFM Board meetings,
- Pre-MOB and TCF. Deputise for the Head of Tax at meetings as required
- Support the CFM Oversight Team in the oversight of fund accounting service providers in relation to NAV tax
- Support to Relationship Managers providing tax input to discussions with Investment Managers as required
- Maintain and enhance technical tax knowledge within the team and encourage technical development of team members
- Provide technical support to tax projects within Fund Solutions Operations including TA
- Provide tax technical support on real estate funds work including CSH and CFM business
- Ad hoc work as determined by the CFM Board and Head of Tax
Your experience will include:
- Detailed knowledge of UK corporate taxation and operational taxes as applied to AIFs, withholding tax issues for AIFs, understanding of VAT, SDRT for AIFs
- Ability to analyse tax regulation and apply it to CFS business, strong communicator, numerate, methodical, organised, accurate, ability to meet deadlines, attention to detail, commitment to personal development
- Corporate tax experience in either professional practice or commerce
- ACA/CTA or equivalent
- FS tax knowledge; understanding of taxation of open and closed ended funds including PAIFs, ACSs, TEFs would be desirable
- Financial services tax experience, Taxsoft (or other dedicated tax software packages) would be advantageous
