An international, privately financed organisation are seeiking a Financial Controller to join a newly created position based in Birmingham.
To strengthen the team they are now looking to appoint high achieving individual who is ready in their career to step up to this leadership role, build a team, put control, process and structure in place which covers everything from scoping for and then implementing a new ERP through to the set-up and daily management of the company's accounting and reporting function as well as responsibility for liaising with outsourced tax, treasury and payroll functions. The position will report to the Finance Director and is based in Birmingham.
Your Finance Controller role: During the set-up phase of the company:
- Key involvement with implementation of accounting package
- Development of accounting policies
- Design and implement processes to control the business
- Work with the Finance Director to plan and manage the growth of the finance team
Ongoing responsibilities for the finance function including:
- All accounting and book-keeping processes
- Reporting to internal management and shareholders
- Preparation of annual statutory accounts and managing the audit process
- Ensuring internal control procedures are followed correctly
- Cash management (ensuring that the business has sufficient liquidity is a critical area)
- Other ad hoc ad hoc activities as required
Your profile:
- Qualified accountant with at least two to three years post-qualified experience in industry
- Experience of implementing accounting systems and processes or working in an environment where systems and processes are in an early phase
- Flexible, structured and with high personal integrity
- Ability to recruit and lead a team
The following would be highly advantageous but are not an absolute requirement:
- Experience of working in a start-up environment
- Experience of working in the UK electricity supply industry
- IFRS accounting knowledge
