Expanding, forward-looking and innovative Engineering Consultancy is currently looking to appoint an Accounts Assistant.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Assistant will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Financial Controller and Project Managers in the analysis of project performance
- Creating, sending and working on collecting sales invoices for Group companies
- Credit Control and the reduction of the Debtor Days
- Maintaining bank reconciliations and analysing bank transactions
- Maintaining the purchase ledger by uploading and logging staff expense claims and purchase invoices
- Assisting the Directors in the reconciliation of company credit cards
- Assisting with the maintenance of the Group Project Management System
Additional responsibilities for the Accounts Assistant include:
- Assisting with any ad hoc projects led by the Financial Controller and Practice Manager
- Bank cheque’s received
- Adhering to the company's financial policies and procedures
- Assisting the Financial Controller with budgeting and forecasting
- Providing cover to answer and distribute incoming telephone calls, taking messages and answering queries using the MITEL system
Suitable applicants for the Accounts Assistant role should:
- Have at least 1 year’s recent working experience within an accountancy practice or a finance team within industry (ideally within the engineering/architecture sector, however, this is not essential)
- Have a good working knowledge of bookkeeping, debtor management and credit control
- Be AAT qualified or currently studying AAT
- Be able to multi-task
- Be able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
- Be able to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods
- Be fully conversant with Microsoft Office packages in particular Word and Excel
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have excellent organisation skills
