Financial Director 

In the Sports & Entertainment industry, this establishment has become a household name and intrinsically linked to some of the most iconic events in the British calendar and is the largest commercial enterprise in its field.

This presents a rare opportunity to join the senior management team as a Financial Director, in a role that will utilise your commercial acumen, relationship building and strategic development to the full.

Your remit will be to manage and direct all aspects of financial reporting, forecasting & analysis for the region and pro-actively lead the Finance team to drive improved performance for the delivery of the region and group’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the Senior Management Team, to provide support and advice to the Regional Director and Business General Managers on financial and company secretarial issues and operate as a strong and credible business partner embedded within the business operation.
  • Ensure content and timing of financial planning, budgeting and management reporting and analysis is in line with the requirements of the Regional Director and Group Finance Director.
  • Maintain strong financial controls to preserve integrity of financial reporting and avoid unnecessary one off adjustments. Drive strong accountability into the finance team and the business for Balance Sheet integrity and working capital movements.
  • To manage and motivate the Finance team to produce accurate and timely outputs for a range of different stakeholders.

The outputs will include but not be limited to:

  • Weekly cash flows
  • Monthly management accounts, supporting KPI’s and performance commentary
  • Maintain transparency and accuracy on all financial forecasts and pro-actively reforecast as trading conditions and trends dictate and in line with Group timetable.
  • Preparation of annual budgets for the region
  • Annual tax and audit packs
  • Pro-active production of a variety of ad-hoc profitability analyses and reports as identified and agreed with the business (e.g. specific business activities or revenue lines).
  • Assist with development of longer term strategic plan and ensure alignment with wider Group strategy and business plans.

Prospective Financial Director candidates will be self-motivated and highly energetic qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA with at least 5 years PQE. You will have a track record as a self-starter, working with a wide range of stakeholders across the business, right up to CEO and Board level with the ability to set your own agenda and work independently, balancing sometimes conflicting priorities.

A Background in sport / leisure and hospitality sector is an advantage but not a pre-requisite. Most important, is your commitment to delivery, coupled with a career focussed desire to succeed within a challenging and demanding environment.
