Our client is looking for a qualified accountant with 2+ years' post qualification experience in industry to join their UK/Europe Corporate Finance Organisation.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have strong functional knowledge in the required disciplines and will have the potential for development and growth both within and beyond this role. In addition to personal drive and commitment, the ability to interact effectively and work collaboratively across the organisation and in particular with the US parent company will be important.

This role will report directly into the Regional Finance Director, responsibilities in this role will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Work with the International Reporting Group on the preparation of Statutory Financial Statements and related financial information (Key "in-country" point of contact for UK auditors and accounting service providers)
  • Work with the Shared Services Group to identify and make improvements to existing processes and systems for the collection and reporting of financial information for the Focus Country Entity
  • Support local management to ensure that appropriate financial controls are implemented and lead specific compliance activity as required
  • Work with the broader finance organisation to support harmonisation of key financial processes across the UK entities
  • Preparation of Actual to Plan Variance Analysis and provision of related management information for the UK entities and/or Corporate Departments
  • Preparation of ad-hoc financial analysis or performance of accounting research as required to support key management decisions

The Successful Applicant

As the Company grows its international business, this new role represents an important element in the development of a strong finance function across the UK / European Region. We are looking for someone who will be able to contribute to this process and who is committed to their own personal and professional development to support this. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skillset:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA) with strong academic record (graduate and/or first time exam record)
  • Background in top tier Accountancy Practice with preferably with 2 year + post qualification experience in industry
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of UK GAAP and financial reporting
  • Strong MS Skills (Excel, Word and Power-point)
  • Working knowledge of Accounting Systems and prior experience of Tax / Tax Accounting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to and experience in US GAAP
  • Understanding of and experience of broader financial disciplines to include planning, forecasting and cost and management accounting
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate financial information effectively across the organisation
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of working in a US or internationally owned organisation
  • Prior experience of relevant accounting areas (long term contracting and revenue recognition) would be advantageous, however are not necessary
