Pontoon Solutions, on behalf of our client National Grid, are looking to recruit 15 Assistant Accountants to work from their Warwick office.
This role is an exiting role, as it not only offers you the opportunity to work for National Grid, but we are also offering training to the successful candidates to help them become fully qualified accountants.
We are looking for part-qualified candidates with some commercial experience that are looking to take their career to the next level.
Tasks could include the following
- Provide accountancy services to Finance and business managers as required, provide basic financial analysis and contribute to the building of robust budgets and forecasts. Deal with standard ad-hoc requests in order to support the achievement of the business unit's objectives.
- Assist in the undertaking of the month end process, ensuring the data used is consistent and accurate, including the appropriateness of all inputs and outputs and completeness, consistency and accuracy of all data. Ensure accounting entries are appropriately classified in accordance with internal policy.
- Support the provision of financial analysis and data/information services to the Business and Finance Business Partners.
- Assist in the production of financial performance reports, including Flash reports and monthly reports. Ensure reporting is relevant, timely and accurate.
- Support Finance/Process Managers in maintaining and monitoring the financial control framework, ensuring compliance with all appropriate controls including those required for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Proactively contribute to the development of a highly motivated, innovative and customer-focused finance team. Support Finance Team Leaders in meeting/exceeding all relevant targets and strategic objectives within the business unit(s).
- As appropriate, to support the delivery of change across Finance and the business, embracing new ways of working and owning delivery of key outcomes to drive the improvement of long-term business capability.
Skills and Experience Required
- Part-qualified (ACCA or CIMA)
- Balance sheet/sub-ledger/bank reconciliations
- Calculation and posting of journals (inc. prepayments and accruals)
- Contribution to year end/audits
- Process improvement initiatives
- Experience of operating manual financial/transactional processes
- Production of management/financial accounts
- Input into budgets/forecasting/variance analysis
- Working in a Group head office/blue chip business (£500m+ turnover)
- Good excel skills (vlookup/pivots etc)
- Experience of various financial systems/ERP
