The Falkland Islands Government now seeks an experienced qualified accountant to join its team in the South Atlantic to fill the position of Chief Financial Officer (Financial Secretary).

Organisation
The Falkland Islands Government is a diverse organisation responsible for all aspects of central and local government in the Islands, from health and education to emergency services and even an airline. Hays is currently recruiting on behalf of the Falkland Islands Government and is looking to appoint a CFO, incorporating the role of Financial Secretary in the Treasury Directorate. The department provides professional advice on public financial management, development of financial and fiscal strategies, tax collection and exchequer services to the public, government officers and elected members.
Requirements
The successful applicant will be a qualified accountant (CCAB CIMA ACCA ACA) and have operational experience in public financial accountancy, with varied post qualification experience including advisory and strategic experience. A successful track record in local government is preferred and it is expected that you will have led a similar size operation as Chief Financial Officer previously. Public sector finance in a large multi-disciplinary organisation with comparable scope such as a Section 151 officer, Head of Finance or CFO of a local authority would be valuable. This position will be one of 2 strategic directors on the Executive Council so board level experience is preferred. Experience across financial planning, project management, corporate strategic planning and budgets and resources are required.
