Senior Accountant

Job Purpose & Scope
- Perform various financial accounting and reporting tasks to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Account for and process financial statements and reports under supervision to accurately reflect the company’s financial results and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
- Contributes to the preparation and analysis of management reporting information to support and inform management decisions with regards to financial planning, control and performance management processes.
- Exercises independent judgement within defined practices and procedures, applies intermediate level of subject matter knowledge to solve problems of moderate complexity.
Accountabilities
1. Management Accounting & Reporting
- Contribute to the preparation of all monthly management reports and analysis including Planning Budgeting Forecasting, Business Unit Reporting, Commercial Assessments and operational reports, ensuring reconciliation and accurate variance analysis
- Identify and analyse any material exceptions to forecast and plan against actuals, and prepare corresponding commentary
- Contribute to the preparation of economic and sales forecasts and period adjustments, collating and analysing information
- Conduct research pertaining to the application of appropriate data and processing methods and analysis, recording and reporting of financial information to support informed decision making
- Manage data quality and integrity of monthly management reports including Planning Budgeting Forecasting, Business Unit Reporting, Commercial Assessments and operational reports
- Ensure applicable management accounting documentation and supporting procedures exist and are up to date
2. Financial (Statutory) Accounting
- Contribute to financial transactions and statistics reflecting earnings, profits, cash balances and other financial results to ensure compliance with approved accounting standards
- Identify and analyse any material exceptions to forecast and plan against actuals, and prepare corresponding commentary
- Support external reporting to ensure consistency, accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting to achieve regulatory and business outcomes
- Support data quality and integrity of output for monthly financial statements and reports
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to increase networks and allow for exchange of information
- Ensure applicable financial accounting documentation and supporting procedures exist and are up to date
- Drive and ensure compliance to Financial Accounting and Reporting policies, procedures and contractual commitments under financing, and proactively identify and raise non-compliant issues with the direct report
- Ensure applicable Financial Accounting and Reporting documentation and supporting procedures exist and are up to date
3. Process Improvement
- Identify and report continuous improvement initiatives in relation to the Financial & Management Accounting and Reporting processes and systems
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting roles.
- Experience in management reporting and applicable legislations.
- Sound commercial acumen and understanding of general and transactional accounting, cost accounting and reporting.
- Property and infrastructure or investment management industry experience preferred.
- Experience with TM1 / Cognos / Oracle R12 or similar finance systems.
- Technical financial skills as required.
