Shawbrook Bank is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Financial Accountant into its established Financial Accounting Function based in Brentwood. This is an exciting opportunity for a part qualified accountant to join a high performing central function. This role offers excellent exposure to the business and the opportunity for the successful candidate to get involved in a wide variety of accounting activities. As an Assistant Financial Accountant you will be responsible for providing accounting support to the wider business.

Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Recording daily movements of the lending portfolio and the deposits business area.
  • Carrying out month end tasks including accruals, deferred income and control account reconciliations. Accounting for commissions, clawbacks and interest income.
  • Completing account reconciliations and making sure aged items are dealt with and provide reporting when required.
  • Knowledge of controls and risk awareness.
  • Completing Bank Reconciliations.
  • Ad-hoc duties as and when to support the finance team.
  • The role will develop to include project work and high level analysis.

Suitable candidates will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Currently ACCA part qualified.
  • Previous experience of working within the financial services industry would be useful but not essential.
  • At least intermediate level of excel including V-lookups & Pivot tables.
  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge, including exposure to IFRS reporting.
  • Proven track record of delivering to tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Able to demonstrate an analytical and solutions focussed approach to work.
