Trainee / Assistant Accountant – Leading Marine Business
Swanwick, Hampshire
£23,000 - £25,000 DOE Plus Contributory Pension
If you are a hard-working accountancy professional with knowledge of Sage 50, this is an outstanding opportunity to enhance your expertise with a highly successful company.
Renowned for their award-winning customer service, our client offers an extensive range of boats and yachts to enable people to live out their sailing fantasies. Due to ongoing expansion, they are now looking for a Trainee / Assistant Accountant to join their team.
Our client is the world’s biggest distributor of a leading marine brand and has recently become their exclusive distributor throughout Spain. This has the potential to double our client’s turnover over the next year, making this an incredibly exciting time to be joining the business.
As a Trainee / Assistant Accountant, you’ll support the Finance function for our client’s operations in the UK and Spain.
You’ll raise sales invoices, credit notes and statements for new and used boats, as well as controlling and gaining authorisation for purchase invoices.
Posting entries onto the Sage system, you’ll control petty cash and credit card payment receipts and prepare analysis. Additionally, you’ll prepare monthly management accounts and the submission of government returns.
Your other duties will involve:
- Responding to telephone queries
- Processing payments
- Preparing and posting lists of supplier payments
- Completing bank account reconciliations
- Monitoring brokerage boat costs
Interested? To be considered, you must have:
- At least 18 months’ experience in an accountancy position
- A working knowledge of Sage 50
As a Trainee / Assistant Accountant, you must be a positive team player with a ‘can do’ attitude. Organised and pragmatic, you must also have excellent communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative.
Ideally, you will be part AAT, ACCA or CIMA qualified, but this is by no means essential. Experience gained within a brokerage and/or distributor environment would also be advantageous, as would fluent Spanish language skills.
