This is a standalone Head of Tax role with a £1b+ UK Plc. Reporting into the Group FC you will be responsible for all of the Group's tax compliance, tax planning and tax accounting.

Working as part of the Group Finance team and reporting directly into the Group Financial Controller this position will be responsible for the Group's tax compliance, tax planning, tax accounting and tax returns.

Key responsibilities will include:

Tax compliance

  • Ensuring the Group complies with all necessary tax legislation, including SAO requirements
  • Preparation & submission of all UK corporate tax returns

Tax planning

  • Keeping abreast of emerging tax changes to ensure optimum preparation and planning is in place
  • Implement initiatives to deliver appropriate corporate tax savings e.g. R&D tax credits
  • Communicate changes in tax to individuals, as appropriate
  • Ensuring working practices across the Group are amended to meet new tax requirements

Tax Advisory

  • Provide advise across the Group on tax related matters e.g. PAYE, VAT, P11D & CIS
  • Liaise with JV partners to ensure VAT & CIS applications are made in a timely & accurate manner
  • Work with HR & Company secretariat on remuneration tax matters e.g. LTIPs, Share based bonus plans & severance payments

Tax Accounting

  • Provide accurate taxation figures for the half-year and annual consolidated results
  • Provide tax forecast for monthly accounts & annual budgets

Corporate Activity

  • Provide tax expertise for all corporate transactions including due diligence for potential acquisitions
  • Tax in relation to TUPE regulations

The requirements of the role include candidates holding a suitable qualification (ACA / CTA / ACCA), being familiar with working with a corporate commercial environment, being committed to driving a highly compliant tax environment across the Group, have a strong understanding and knowledge of corporate tax matters, have experience working within a similar role in a leading corporate organisation and being able to ensure complex matters are communicated in a simple and effective way.

You will have the gravitas to influence key senior leaders to ensure resources are in place for strong tax compliance, have a high level of personal initiative and drive, have the ability to plan & prioritise work to meet tight deadlines adn coupled with excellent communications skills.
