Description
Duties of the successful Assistant Accountant/ Finance Manager will include:
- Sales Ledger - Process all income transactions (including cash receipts) and send out invoices to project managers.
- Purchase Ledger - Process all incoming invoices (including payments) in a timely manner, checking for accurate coding to projects and sources of funds and ensuring appropriate authorisations are obtained prior to processing for payment.
- Staff Expenses - Process all expense claims as above, also ensuring adherence to Expenses Policy.
- Petty Cash - implement and maintain the petty cash system.
- Management and Project Accounts - prepare the monthly Management and Project Accounts and supporting analyses in accordance with the month-end timetable. Key monthly tasks include:
- Debtors and Creditors - Review aged debtors/creditors and chase/pay any outstanding items
- Fixed Assets - Maintain Fixed Asset register and reconcile this to records held by the Operations Manager.
- Journals - process journals each month for prepayments, accruals, depreciation, overhead allocations and staff cost allocations.
- Bank Reconciliations - Complete reconciliations for all bank accounts in a timely manner each month.
- Annual Accounts - assist the CFO/FD preparing the annual financial statements and ensure all necessary supporting schedules are prepared. Liaise with the external auditor for the companies annual audit.
- VAT returns - prepare quarterly VAT returns.
- Payroll and Pensions - Manage payroll and pensions through our out-sourced service provider.
- Maintain processes and controls to ensure financial policies are implemented.
- Support the CFO/FD with any other duties as required.
Profile
Candidates are required to have a good level and understanding of accounting procedures and processes. It is advantageous to have had exposure to management accounts, forecasting and budgeting.
Training can be given however a good understanding, experience and exposure to varied accounts processes is required.
Job Offer
A starting salary of between £25,000- £30,000 depending on the experience of the successful candidate.
