My client, a specialist manufacturing company in Chester, is currently looking to appoint a Cost Controller. The successful candidate will lead standard costing, product profitability, capital projects and capex control activities on the site, and inventory valuation and accuracy, reporting into the site Finance Manager.

Main areas of responsibility are as follows:

  • Financial management and maintenance of product BOMS and routings to ensure correct standard costs.
  • Analysis of standard costs for trends, changes, planning, product profitability and stock valuation purposes.
  • Standard cost variance analysis to enable understanding of production performance.
  • Product and customer profitability analysis for financial and commercial decision making.
  • Capex control and fixed asset register maintenance to ensure correctly recorded capital and depreciation.
  • Financial control and analysis of project development costs.
  • Financial control and analysis of customer tooling in conjunction with operations and engineering teams.
  • Participation in annual budget and short term forecast processes.
  • Inventory analysis, valuation and accuracy (analysis of cycle counts and stocktake activities).
  • Monthend processing responsibilities for fixed assets, depreciation, stock valuation, accounting for tooling development and trialling costs, variance analysis linking with causal analysis and commentary and entry of associated data to the group reporting system.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned including plant specific support.
  • Cover for the Finance Manager.

The ideal candidate will be CIMA / ACCA part qualified with previous experience within a manufacturing organisation.
