My client based in Hertfordshire delivers brand display solutions to in-store marketing and product launches through to store development.

This is a maternity cover position from February to October 2017. Reports to the Executive Chairman and manages to two staff.

Activities - Accounts and Statutory

  • Oversee the production of monthly management accounts including accounting for wages and pensions, balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of variance to budget and rolling forecast within set 7 day deadline
  • Job closures and JCR reporting
  • Job review and required journal movement
  • Ensure timely close of all ledgers
  • Exchange rate maintenance
  • Oversee the production and presentation of monthly accounts packs for Executive team including feedback on debt collection and cash position
  • Audit preparation and liaison with external auditors
  • Production of annual statutory accounts and all associated lead schedules
  • Review customer & supplier setup/amendment reports
  • Review Accounts Receivable and liaise with relevant sales person if debts become very overdue
  • Run credit checks for new customers

Activities - Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Maintain rolling forecast
  • Monitor budgets for all departments and liaise with department heads to ensure they stay within strategic plan and rolling forecast
  • Liaise with Executive Chairman to ensure accurate forecasting
  • Record all J's in the sales forecast, updating the order cover values where necessary
  • Maintain sales forecast by liaising with Brand and Retail sales directors

Activities - Cash and Banking

  • Daily/monthly cash flow management including trading in foreign currency, internet banking and forecasting
  • Bank Liaison
  • Authorise weekly TT and fortnightly payment runs in £, $ & €
  • Oversee/Authorise correct use of banking system including ensuring that all supplier bank details are set up from bank details evidenced on supplier headed paper
  • Currency management

Activities - Staff and Systems

  • Oversee KPI management for all KPI schemes
  • Oversee Monthly payroll spreadsheet production, including starters, leavers, bonus, commission payments etc.
  • Oversee Year End payroll reporting
  • P11D production
  • Provide training and support for the finance team in their roles as required
  • Monitor and improve control systems to ensure sufficient internal control exists for rigorous accounts production
  • Promote continuous improvement by developing and improving the processes and procedures around the creation of monthly management accounts
  • Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid the business/organisational development
  • Recruitment of finance staff where necessary

Activities - Other duties

  • Ensure document management of all ledgers is completed accurately and to defined specification to allow secure destruction of documents prior to 7 year legal requirement
  • Oversee Nike stock maintenance and ensure accurate reporting within set weekly/monthly deadlines
  • Assist in strategic development
  • Assist in investment appraisal

Candidate Profile

  • At least 5 years at FC level in a similar business
  • Able to commit for the duration of the contract
  • Hands on and prepared to roll your sleeves up.
  • Proven track record of performance reporting and producing management and statutory financial statements.
  • Advanced Excel user and proficient in other MS Office products.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with excellent system skills.
  • Good staff management skills
