About the role:
Trading and Supply Compliance is responsible for ensuring Trading and Supply has in place an effective compliance framework to enable it to comply with relevant external laws and regulations governing commodities trading. It comprises approximately 70 individuals based in London, Houston, Singapore, Dubai and Calgary.

The Senior Compliance Risk Analyst is responsible for the design, planning and execution of the Shell Trading and Supply Compliance Risk Assessment programme.  The Compliance Risk Assessment programme is a key component of the Trading and Supply Compliance Framework. Compliance risk assessments are performed across the various businesses of Trading and Supply to identify inherent and residual compliance risks and ensure Trading and Supply has in place appropriate controls in place to mitigate those risks and to meet regulatory requirements and expectations. 

The role offers exposure to Trading and Supply senior management, traders and functional staff.  The role is based at our trading office in London.  Regular international travel can be expected. 
 
 


What will you do:

• Ownership of the Trading and Supply Compliance Risk Assessment framework.
• Development of and delivery against annual Compliance Risk Assessment Plan.
• Producing critical analysis and evaluation of compliance risks within Trading and Supply, working with relevant stakeholders including compliance subject matter experts.
• Identifying mitigating actions to address compliance risks.
• Ensuring mitigating actions are properly tracked and monitored.

What we need from you:

• The ideal candidate will have a Compliance or Compliance Testing background, preferably in a commodities trading organisation.  However candidates with other backgrounds will be considered provided they can demonstrate the requirements below.
• Good understanding of governance, risk management and assurance frameworks.
• Able to identify and assess the impact and likelihood of compliance risks to Trading and Supply. 
• Detailed knowledge of the full range of compliance requirements is not a pre-requisite for the role however a working knowledge of ethics and compliance laws, and experience with financial regulation (as it applies to commodities trading) is a requirement. 
• Able to monitor changes in the risk environment and the effectiveness of actions taken to manage identified risk.
• Able to initiate and drive meaningful discussions on compliance risk with senior management, commercial and functional staff.
• Shows independence and courage in addressing difficult issues in a constructive manner.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Sound project management skills in order to effectively design and implement the risk assessment programme.
