Reporting into the CFO, based in London and to all Board Members, the Group Financial Controller will have operational responsibility for the Finance Department and line management responsibility for a finance team of 3 people.

My client are a multinational organisation specialising in the tourism and hospitality sector. Having grown their hotel base to over 40 hotels across mainland Europe, with notable hotels in landmark cities such as Edinburgh, Vienna and Paris. My client have now set sights on growing their hotel offering further, predominantly within the luxury boutique hotel space, doing so organically and via acquisition.

Detailed Job Description

The Group Financial Controller will play an integral role in companies future success.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for all areas of finance within the company, reporting to the CFO.
  • Direct and manage the organisation's overall control and financial policies and accounting practices in accordance to the group standards.
  • Responsible for the group consolidation process of the monthly financial statements.
  • Report to the Board of Directors and Senior Management on all financial matters.
  • Formulating financial targets, budgets and business plans in accordance with the strategy determined by the Board.
  • Manage month and year-end closing together with preparation of audit pack and liaising with auditors and bank
  • Management of working capital and any company investments or capital reserves.
  • Manage the annual budget, monthly re-forecasting and cash flow forecasting, presenting financial results at Board meetings.
  • Preparing annual accounts and ensuring that all financial matters are in accordance with legislation and ethical accounting practices.
  • Lead on to improve month-end processes; accuracy and reliability of reporting to hit tight deadlines set by the Board.
  • Lead on and partner with hotel General Managers and key stakeholders to review progress against budget
  • Recruit, develop and motivate the Finance Team to achieve its objectives and departmental purpose.
  • Support the CFO with ad-hoc projects and M&A support: managing company policies regarding capital expenditures, debt, taxation, equity and acquisitions.

Candidate's Profile

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • An accredited accountancy qualification: ACCA/ACA/CIMA.
  • Experience in Hotel, Hospitality or Leisure industry sectors is a must.
  • Excellent leadership skills, demonstrating a proactive and energetic approach.
  • Significant experience within an accountancy functions, with at least 5 years in a management position.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects with conflicting priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Computer literate with good excel skills and solid understanding of accounting software principles.
