Description

There are a number of key duties and responsibilities involved in the Finance Assistant role including:

  • Process purchase orders and submit to suppliers within agreed timescales and ensure the finance system is updated with status reports for all purchase orders.

  • Prepare applications for credit accounts with new suppliers.
  • Ensure best value is received for all purchases made and negotiate discounts with suppliers where appropriate, including maintaining the authorised stationery list and assisting requisitioners with obtaining quotes

  • Process purchase invoices and credit notes.

  • Produce invoice payment runs, processed by BACs and/ or cheque, to meet agreed schedule of payments.

  • Process sales ledger invoices and chase outstanding debts in accordance with the agreed timescales. Produce monthly outstanding debtor reports and status updates to highlight potential problem debts.

  • Attention to detail is essential to this post. Accuracy of data input, whether financial or personal, is of paramount importance.

Profile

A number of desirable skills needed for the Finance Assistant role include:

  • Studying AAT or AAT Qualified.

  • Excellent customer service and organisational skills.

  • Excel (minimum Intermediate level).

  • Experience in communicating with external parties.

  • Willingness to learn.

  • Ability to lead and manage own work effectively and take responsibility for own professional development.

  • Excellent team working skills.
