A rapidly expanding firm and that specializes in international VAT and tax for e-commerce businesses that are located globally.
Must be a self-starter and a clear communicator at all levels. The candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to work independently and pro-actively with business support groups and functional support groups.
You will provide technical support for partners as and when needed. Proactively take client proposal to targets. Market the firm both internally and externally by writing various articles and VAT updates. Support junior staff and provide internal support
Key Responsibilities
- To provide day-to-day supervisor/management of the VAT compliance team and in particular to monitor the work and progress being made and to help to resolve any problems and difficulties being encountered (ensure that tasks are monitored and satisfactorily completed within the designated timescales)
- Manage activities of the accounts team and review of tax reports
- Coordinating VAT projects with international partners and colleagues globally
- To identify potential sources of work from existing and potential new clients
- To be a main point of contact for team members and clients with questions
- To prepare/review quarterly VAT returns and annual adjustments including intrastat reports
- Liaise with clients and become a trusted adviser
- To consider cross-selling opportunities (tax/strategic advice),including getting new business
- To prepare reasonable quotes for projects, monitor WIP and bill as appropriate
- Prepare statutory accounts and tax reports
- Advising for internal and external clients, both in the UK and abroad, on all VAT/Tax related issues
- Preparing formal correspondence to the Tax Authorities on behalf of clients
- Meeting with clients and Tax Authorities on VAT/Tax related matters individually or with a team
- To manage HMRC risk reviews and ensure that any HMRC enquiries are managed effectively
- To keep up to date with taxation standards and developments within the profession and to attain the requisite number of CPD each year
- To contribute to company articles and blogs
Essential Skills
- ATT/CTA/ACCA qualified
- Sound presentation skills to audiences of all sizes
- The ability to explain complex issues in a clear way, verbally and in writing
- The ability to think proactively and creatively in terms of marketing, technical developments, and areas for client development
- MS Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
- Approachable with excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
Desirable Skills
- Degree in Maths/Accounting (minimum 2:1)
- Previous experience of working in an accounting practice
- Demonstrated application of management skills, including formal or informal coaching and mentoring experience
- MS Office at advanced level
