Sharp Consultancy are exclusively recruiting for a leading Medical & Healthcare staffing company, providing healthcare expertise to both the public and private sectors. A member of a larger group of companies, the business was established in 1990 and has continually evolved its approach to healthcare staffing, developing innovative recruitment managed services to permanent, temporary and locum markets and currently employs over 800 people worldwide with an annual Turnover of over £250m.
They are now expanding and looking for an experienced Head of Payroll to drive functionality and efficiency of the division.
Key Responsibilities:
*To manage the Payroll Services team, ensuring the delivery of a high quality service
*To lead strategic planning initiatives relating to payroll
*To take budgetary responsibility for the Payroll Services team
*To be a key decision maker on operational payroll issues
*To ensure accurate and timely temporary and permanent payroll processing for the UK and Ireland businesses. Initially this will include bringing UK Permanent Payroll and Ireland Temp & Perm payrolls back "in house".
*To ensure that payroll processing timetables, communications, controls, RTI submissions and year end requirements are managed proactively for all payrolls
*To ensure that statutory requirements and timetables for ongoing pensions re-enrolment are met
*To manage all other relevant regulatory returns and report and mitigate exceptions in a timely manner
*Working closely with the Financial Controller to drive and implement improvements to the payroll processes to ensure faster and more controlled operation
*To work closely with senior finance, HR and business stakeholders on specific analysis or project work as necessary
*To prepare schedules for audits and other regulatory requirements as required
Experience/qualifications/knowledge:
*Professional qualification (such as CIPP) is highly desirable, though not essential
*Significant experience in a complex temp and perm payroll environment
*Up to date knowledge of UK payroll legislation including PAYE, NI, Statutory Leave, Court Orders, Pensions, severance payments, childcare vouchers, tax year end, P11D's
*Up to date knowledge of non-UK payroll legislation
*Experience of running payroll processes in Republic of Ireland
*Track record of system and process improvement
*Demonstrable track record of people development
*Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a consistently high level of accuracy
*Strong communications skills
