I am excited to advertise the role of Interim General Manager to join a market leading organisation on a 12 month contract. This really is an incredible opportunity to lead one of the most dynamic distribution businesses in the Midlands. Based at Wolverhampton this role will have full accountability for the Food Service Leadership Team and approximately 100 indirect reports.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the division is legally compliant, efficiently run and capable of delivering against Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S), Quality, Cost and Service expectations. The GM will also create and lead a medium-term strategic plan and ensure that high performing engaged teams are in place to deliver current and future requirements.
The main duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure the division is legally compliant and deliver EH&S, Quality, Cost & Service targets. Lead effectively through the matrix of the Supply Chain taking a lead role for EH&S, Quality, HR, Technical & Logistics functions on site
- Build strong teams with great leadership and technical capability. Ensuring healthy succession capability through all levels and that the plant leadership team is capable of being fully autonomous in driving higher performance levels across all performance metrics
- Develop and implement a strategic plan that aligns with UK commercial needs and delivers improved safety, cost and service targets. A key part of this will be to ensure the successful completion of Masterplan to turn this division into one of the most advanced in the UK and will underpin the future success of the UK business
- Effectively deploy World Class Supply Chain (WCSC) in Wolverhampton and drive performance of the Plant to top of the performance table across the network. The General Manager will therefore be a key stakeholder and will be instrumental in delivering this evolutionary step in our journey to being World Class
- Implement targeted ways of improving reward and recognition across the network along with a more flexible and cost effective way of operating. Improve employee engagement by communicating a clear vision of the future and building strong working relations with all employees
To be considered for this exciting opportunity you'll need the following skills & experience:
- Must be Immediately Available
- Degree qualified or demonstrable relevant experience
- Several years broad based technical, production and commercial experience in a food, drink or similar FMCG sectors
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication and influencing skills enabling cross functional working at all levels
- A thorough understanding and commitment to lean/continuous improvement tools and techniques
- Must have initiated, led and sustained significant and successful change programmes
- Technical and commercial knowledge of contract negotiations, bids & tenders
- This experience will also include strong negotiation skills including annual pay deals
