Badenoch & Clark are currently working with a leading general insurance business to recruit a Data Governance Manager on a permanent basis. This significant role sits in the risk team and reports to the Deputy CRO.

The key focus of the role will be to support the Deputy CRO in ensuring that there is an effective Data Governance framework in place for managing data, supporting the business in implementing and operating the Data Governance Framework and providing support, challenge and advice to management around business change and projects.

Responsibilities include:
*Support and facilitate the Data Governance Forum:
*Structure the agenda for and report to the Data Governance Forum to agree and prioritise future data quality activities
*Report on progress on existing activities to the Data Governance Forum
*Advise and support working groups set up by the Data Governance Forum to resolve specific issues
*Brief and support Data Owners
*Support and facilitate the measurement and reporting of data quality
*Develop the existing data quality measurement and reporting processes as required
*Facilitate the definition and agreement of data quality rules
*Manage the data deficiency management process
*Identify owners of new data quality issues
*Support Data Owners in root cause analysis of data quality issues and agree remedial actions
*Monitor and report on remedial activities
*Design and implement detailed processes to support the Data Management Framework e.g. Reference Data Management, maintenance of the business glossary, approval of business definitions, data aspects of new projects/change programmes
*Ensure that the data quality requirements of Solvency II and other regulations are understood and addressed:
*Support the Solvency II Data Directory, Dataflows and Key Control Matrices and manage the review and update of content
*Act as an advocate for data quality with stakeholders across the business and drive communication and awareness of data quality requirements and issues across the organisation
*In some cases project manage specific projects to address data quality issues and/or to implement data quality management tools
*Ensure that other data initiatives across the business are co-ordinated to ensure alignment with the Data Governance Framework, by participating in other initiatives and co-ordinating as necessary

Background / Experience
*Previous experience of Data Governance in the UK insurance industry is preferred but not essential
*Strong IT knowledge is desirable
*Excellent communicator with ability to influence at senior levels and provide constructive advice and challenge
*Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
*Analytical skills to support and advise on root cause analysis of data quality issues
*Knowledge of data quality tools including data profiling and data quality reporting would be useful
*Project management skills
*Knowledge of Solvency II data management requirements desirable but not essential
