ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

2.1 To provide a customer focused management accounting service which meets business needs and ensures that management accounting is used to inform and challenge management actions and decisions.

2.1.1 Liaising closely with depot managers and business units to provide a comprehensive financial support service, including the provision of financial information and analysis to Senior Management.

2.1.2 Ensure sound relationship management through regular visits to the Operations depots.

2.1.3 To take the lead on analysis of Key Performance Indicators, specifically disposal, fuel, maintenance, jobs per day, net earnings and utilization.

2.1.4 To challenge depot forecasts to ensure that all relevant business information has been taken into account, and that reasons for variances are fully documented, communicated and understood.

2.1.5 To produce monthly accounts in line with Operations requirements.

2.1.6 To provide monthly commentary on Operations figures month by month, quarter by quarter or year by year, looking at correlations between figures.

2.1.7 Attendance at Operations managers meetings.

2.1.8 Support the Operations business in the formulation of financially sound and accurate business plans, presenting alternative financial options whilst maintaining corporate values, operational guidelines, "best practice" and statutory accounting principles, and ensuring that business plan information is recorded accurately in the relevant financial systems.

2.1.9 Assist in the closing of the Annual Accounts, supporting the business units where necessary.

2.1.10 To assist with the assessment on the capital spend for the year and the impact for the following year's program on a rolling basis.

2.1.11 Preparation of the annual budgets for operations.

2.2 To ensure that Operations managers use their resource in the most effective way,utilising surplus resource constructively and that budgets are adhered to.

2.2.1 Ensure that business cases prepared by Operations managers are fit-for-purpose by checking that financial information has been prepared accurately and related assumptions are correct, and that the business case is feasible in the context of the overall business plan and forecast.

2.2.2 To ensure that senior Operations managers are aware, and take account of, the financial implications of business plans, budgets, forecasts, tenders and any subsequent variations to these.

2.2.3 Assist in development and implementation of new and existing financial systems.

2.2.4 Ensure compliance with all necessary financial procedures (including appropriate budget delegation arrangements and procedures).

2.2.5 To assist with a financial review of all tenders throughout the bid/tendering cycle.

2.3 Carry our monthly management account routines for operations.

2.3.1 Review the clock card comparison report and chase up the depots on any discrepancies.

2.3.2 Review all of the bulk fuel returns and post the necessary adjustments in Xeres.

2.3.3 Review and code the Agency fuel invoices.

2.3.4 Review all standing journals and ensure they are up to date.

2.3.5 Calculate pay accrual and holiday pay accruals for operations.

2.3.6 Review all operations yellow and red peril and get the necessary back up and post these to Xeres.

2.3.7 Fleet list update.

2.3.8 Running of monthly management reports.

2.4 Control and update group fixed asset registers and post monthly depreciation.

2.4.1 Maintaining and reconciling Fixed asset register in excel and Xeres.

2.4.2 Posting of monthly depreciation charge.

2.5 Management and review of monthly payroll process.

2.5.1 Review payroll on a monthly basis.

2.5.2 Provide holiday cover for the monthly payroll process.

2.5.3 Review and update P11d database and forms.

2.5.4 Take responsibility for all reporting from payroll in line with business requirements.

2.5.5 Coordinate with Financial Controller and HR Manager to ensure that the payroll process runs efficiently and accurately.

2.6 Provide support for the Operations Director, Finance Director and Financial Controller as required, including adhoc duties.

2.6.1 In conjunction with the Operations Director, Finance Director and Financial Controller use project delivery methods to undertake projects as requested and report results and impact.

2.6.2 Provide assistance to all of operations, finance or the group as required.

2.7 Ensure compliance with the Group's Health and Safety policy and behaviours.
