ABPM as experts in financial recruitment have been appointed by a multi-site retail and logistics business based in the East Midlands to recruit a Risk & Audit Planning & Report Coordinator. The successful individual will be a qualified accountant who has the ability to prepare reports and minutes to Board standards, with a good understanding and experience of working with corporate governance requirements.

The role will support the delivery of Internal Audit and Risk Management planning and reporting, including co-ordination of the annual IA&RM Plan. Co-ordination and preparation for Audit & Risk Committee meetings; the role also includes the provision of Secretariat services to the Risk Management Committee and delivers Risk Management and/or Internal Audit work as required within the wider IA&RM team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare papers for Risk Management Committee and Audit & Risk Committee meetings
  • Co-ordinate papers and act as Secretary to the Risk Management Committee (which meets four times per annum)
  • Co-ordinate the preparation of the annual IA&RM Plan
  • Support the Risk Manager with the preparation, review and reporting of work on Group Risks, business principal risks and the risk management process within the group
  • Perform ad-hoc risk or audit reviews as required. Prepare written reports of audit findings/risk reviews and make recommendations for controls improvements
  • Build strong relationships with business management and actively influence at all stages of the audit / risk process
  • Support the development of continuous improvement activities' that enhance Internal Audit and Risk Management's delivery, effectiveness and efficiency

ESSENTIAL

  • An ability to prepare reports and minutes to Board standards and a good understanding and experience of working with corporate governance requirements
  • Strong organisational skills, flexibility and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines is essential
  • Demonstrable experience of modern risk management and internal auditing theory and techniques
  • Self-motivated team player who is proactive, astute and can work from first principles
  • Strong verbal, written and presentational communication skills
  • Good commercial awareness, including industry knowledge
  • Self-confidence and the ability to build influential relationships at senior management levels in the business
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organisation with high impact and to challenge accepted thinking
  • Innovative and creative and able to think on their feet as well as "outside the box" but keep the link to practical solutions
  • Strong risk management and internal audit skills and best practice experience.

DESIRABLE

  • Secretariat services experience would be advantageous but not essential - support would be given.
