The permanent division of Robert Half Finance & Accounting are currently recruiting for a highly driven and confident Commercial Accountant for our client based in the Northampton
Your Profile
We are recruiting for a Commercial Accountant who will be responsible for making sure reporting requirements are fulfilled and provide support to the operational teams to drive efficiencies and deliver improved financial performance. The role will involve financial analysis and partnering with the internal and external stakeholders within the organisation
Scope and Responsibilities
- Complete ad-hoc financial analysis ensure sound financials are behind the decision making process
- Proactively assess and challenge performance to provide financial insight to optimise performance and return
- Contract evaluation providing deep insight and challenge into the financials
- Proactively highlight future performance concerns and opportunities to operational director and business team to provide financial insight and optimise contract performance
- Monitor sector budgets and spend to ensure accurate postings and review spend across the sector
- Prepare customer forecasts and annual plans
- Ensure reporting is both timely & accurate
- Provide management with relevant financial information as requested
- Responsible for monthly bespoke management accounting, forecasting and budgeting
- Continuous development of financial processes to improve speed, accuracy and insight
- Develop an understanding of how key drivers of value inter-relate and a good understanding of materiality
- Ensure strong financial controls and systems are established and pro-actively ensure the controls are maintained
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and targets to identify trends and variances to budget / forecast and take prompt effective action
- Ensure billing to customers is correct and produced in-line with contractual expectations
- Provide timely customer reporting requirements accurately
- Attend customer monthly business reviews and deliver accurate financial achievements and projections
- Provide management with relevant financial information as requested
- Support new business opportunities and renewals ensuring that the risk and reward balance is well understood and communicated to business teams ahead of sign off
- Develop cost models
- Ensure full cost estimates are aligned with client expectations and at the most commercially competitive terms for the business
- Ensure all cost estimates are in accordance with the company operating procedures
- Work with the Business Development team to ensure they obtain all required information during site visits and thus ensure we understand all commercial risks of the bid and are preparing a compliant tender in accordance with the companies operating procedures
- Develop new tools to improve financial visibility
- Updating and reviewing bespoke cost models to ensure that investment decisions are base on accurate and up to date product performance
