Group Technical Accountant

Working for a Global Technology business my client is recruiting for a Group Technical Accountant. The purpose of the role is to analyse and summarise new and proposed accounting standards and technical accounting issues that may arise. Determining the potential effect of the proposed changes / issues and assisting with implementation of new policies across the Group.

Key Accountabilities

Research existing accounting literature to ensure appropriate application and documentation of existing complex accounting transactions and or business situations

Prepare technical accounting memos documenting specific transactions and or issues

Ensuring compliance with all IFRS reporting requirements

Update and maintain group accounting policy manual and ensure relevant information is available on Group Portal

Assist in the review of complex notes in the quarterly and full year results

Responsible for the preparation of accounting technical memos for the Group Finance Controller, CFO, Accounting Committee and Board

Liaison with external auditors on technical accounting issues, ensuring timely resolution

Ensure that all developments in Financial Reporting Standards are fully understood and properly implemented by the Group, specifically new revenue recognition and leasing standards

Qualifications

Qualified accountant ACA (preferably big 4 or equivalent)

Expertise and experience

Strong accounting background preferably with experience in financial reporting

Resolution of complex technical accounting issues

Working with cross-geographical and cross-functional teams

Strong report writing skills to plc Board level

Proven experience of working in a professional team adhering to strict deadlines
