My client is looking to hire an Interim finance Manager for an intial period of 9 months with opportunity to extend further. The key responsibilities will include being accountable for all aspects of financial accounting, management accounting, accounts payable and finance and MI business partnering, ensuring direct reports follow company processes and policies and all financial information is provided in an accurate and timely manner. To manage, lead and motivate the team, optimising individual and team performance.
Accounts Payable
To review applicable accounting reports and accounts payable ledger to ensure accuracy and timely maintenance
To oversee expense claims processing, ensuring alignment to company policies
To resolve all escalated purchase ledger and supplier related invoice issues as appropriate
Financial Planning and Analysis
To manage the annual budgeting and forecasting processes
To review and communicate monthly variance analysis and reporting of actual performance against budget and forecasts
To lead cost reduction through strategic and tactical initiatives
To review reporting and MI generation, in order to enable detailed analysis of performance and decision making
Fixed Assets
To ensure accurate and timely processing of fixed assets accounting information in line with regulatory requirements and guidelines
To ensure completeness of the fixed asset register and compliance to the fixed asset policy
Month End
To implement, maintain and own the month-end timetable
To review and oversee the completion of relevant month-end processes in a timely manner
To review month-end reports, produced by the team, for accuracy
To review journals posted at month end to ensure accuracy and completeness
Revenue and Distribution to Parents
To review distribution of licensing revenue to parents, ensuring it is processed in a timely and accurate manner
Banking and Treasury
To review the consolidated cash flow forecast and propose recommendations for improvement, if necessary
Tax and VAT
To ensure compliance with all relevant statutory taxation regulations
To review VAT and other returns before filing
To manage relationships with tax advisers and authorities, where appropriate
Processes and Controls
To proactively ensure adequate financial controls are implemented across the departments
To own and maintain accounting policy and chart of accounts documentation and communicate policy/procedure changes to the business
To review, and approve as appropriate, completed chart of accounts master data request forms
To coordinate the preparation and participation in statutory audits
To respond to requests from auditors and resolve any queries in order for the audits to be completed on time
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's accounting records and financial systems
To deputise for the Head of Finance as and when required
To build a network of stakeholders in the business, developing positive working relationships
To own and maintain the risk register
To contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes through identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes
Essential:
Qualified Accountant with significant prior Financial Accounts experience (particularly statutory accounting rules, statutory reporting, UK tax legislation and VAT)
Background of working within a Finance department in a commercial organisation or alternatively a mix of Practice and Industry experience
Minimum 4 years' experience of working in a relevant financial accountant position
Experience in managing teams
Minimum 1 years' experience with tax, interpreting tax legislation and liaising with tax authorities
Competent using Microsoft Office - Word, Excel (in particular), PowerPoint and Outlook
Desirable:
Accounts Payable experience
Ability to manage projects and use judgement to make decisions and adapt to change
