My client is responsible for providing accounting and other services to a well known, High Net Worth entrepreneur with a diverse portfolio of personal and business interests.
This is a broad and varied opportunity to be a key part of a busy and high profile family office, going through an interesting period of growth.
The role will be responsible for:
- Ownership of UK financial processes through to management reports;
- Approve the payroll and company pension scheme figures which are outsourced by the firm;
- Ensuring robust management reporting, and support in budgeting and forecasting processes;
- Prepare annual accounts from ETB for the service company to be ready for the accountancy firm;
- Assisting in preparation of individual and corporate tax returns and liaise with the tax advisors;
- Internal compliance and financial controls including resolution of VAT and Tax issues;
- Liaising with the Trustees of the family trusts on various investments;
- Liaising with the accountant / advisors for the Investment company based in Malta;
- Regular valuations of personal property investments including preparing rental statements and monitoring and managing development expenditure projects with contractors.
The Successful Applicant
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) joining direct from a small/medium sized firm of Chartered Accountants, or another closely aligned institution such as a single/multi family office, private bank, professional services firm or a wealth management boutique;
- Technically highly competent, with experience of accounting and analysis within an SME environment;
- Able to work autonomously but also in a team environment, with ability to communicate with senior stakeholders';
- Family office experience or experience working within a complex group would be a distinct advantage;
- Energetic and tenacious self starter, with the willingness to roll sleeves up when needed;
- A working knowledge of Income Tax/CGT/VAT/PAYE would be preferred;
- Excellent systems skills including advanced Excel and previous knowledge of SAGE or a similar accounting package;
- Introduce and implement smarter ways of working, possibly through a finance system implementation;
- Desire to understand and mindset to question.
