Gleeson Recruitment Group are looking to recruit a Commercial Finance Manager for a service business who are based in Birmingham city centre in a stunning office environment and central location.  You will be a fully qualified accountant and will have extremely strong stakeholder engagement skills coupled with strong commercial acumen and the ability to add value as the Finance lead for your business area.  You will work closely with the Senior Management team and support them in making the right decisions which will ultimately drive improvements and profitability.

As the Commercial Finance Manager you will be reporting into the Head of Commercial Finance and you will provide financial support and critical analytical challenge to your business area to ensure they achieve the financial targets set. You will also be responsible for managing relationships with both operations and finance and be comfortable in both areas. 

The Role:

As the Commercial Finance Manager this role will provide variety and challenge and will be responsible for the following:

Business Planning

  • Develop and challenge financial / business plans and ensure agreed plans are reflected in individual team forecasts and budgets with appropriate KPIs identified and reported to monitor achievement
  • Accountable for the delivery of the detailed budgeting & forecasting process which includes working with Senior Management teams to provide in-depth analysis of revenue streams, costs base, risks and opportunities
  • Evaluate, challenge and build business cases to support key proposals and ensure appropriate post-investment appraisal and monitoring

Financial Performance & Control

  • Support and challenge to drive delivery of forecast and budget commitments
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance and develop clear plans to achieve these including the monitoring of delivery
  • Help educate, communicate and embed a culture of financial discipline and control including improving WIP management, billing, debt and cash collection as well as managing other direct and overhead expenditure against budget
  • Play a key role in helping to deliver reporting and analysis that is straightforward, insightful and ultimately drives performance

Business Development

  • Support, evaluate and challenge key decision makers in sales pitches and tenders, to include pricing, discount structures, commercial terms etc.
  • Drive profitability analysis of clients, sectors, business types, and working with Senior Management team to identify options and recommendations to increase sales and profit margins
  • Ensure efficient and effective working with the Business Development team on the above where appropriate
