Financial Accountant

 

This leading international independent insurance broker is looking for an ambitious, passionate, resilient and tenacious qualified accountant to join their business as a Financial Accountant. The person who is successful will be joining at an exciting time of significant growth in business activity. They are looking to expand the capability of their Finance function and enhance its technical capability.

 

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant and will join a Finance team of 6 and perform a function that will be end to end in nature with enhanced exposure to the business. They are looking for someone who is a highly motivated Financial Accountant to support the CFO and the Senior Accountant.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Maintain and review of fixed assets' registers
  • Maintenance of nominal ledger and all supporting spreadsheets/workings
  • Production of client money reconciliations, monthly cashflow forecasts and monthly management accounts
  • Maintenance and review of departmental procedures
  • Maintenance of insurance ledgers (i.e. postings of income and associated items)
  • Provision of assistance in the calculation of corporate tax
  • Production of VAT & GST (Singapore) returns
  • Production of regulatory returns for the Group's subsidiary companies (e.g. FCA's RMAR, MAS return for Singapore)
  • Assist the CFO and Senior Accountant in devising, implementing and reviewing the adequacy of the Group's internal controls with respect to financial matters
  • Assist the CFO and Senior Accounts in the preparation of all workings leading to the production of the Group's year-end financial statements, incl. technical review and challenge of its accounting consolidation
  • Support preparation of the Group's annual budget
  • Training and support for junior members of the team
  • Calculation and proposal of the Group's FX trading activity and investment of surplus own funds
  • Maintenance of relationships with external counterparties (banks, consultants etc.)

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Relevant qualifications (ACA/ACCA). A minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience or equivalent
  • Ideally from an insurance/broking background
  • Experience gained within both practice and industry
  • Good French language ability desirable
  • Proven and demonstrable senior management interaction
  • Capable of using initiative to deal with multiple challenges
  • Excellent planning and organisational ability, can juggle multiple demands and prioritise work accordingly
  • Utmost attention to detail and a focus to achieve presentable and high quality work
  • Familiarity with the CASS (Client Money) rulebook (specifically chapter 5 highly desirable)
