Our client, based in Hull is looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join their team.

The client's finance department works to tight deadlines in terms of the weekly wages, weekly payment runs and other tasks so an ability to work under pressure is an absolute essential.

The role includes the daily banking so a full clean driving license is also an essential.

The Financial Assistant’s work will include basic book keeping duties, working with sales and purchase ledgers and running calculations to ensure that records and payments are correct.

In addition, it would be preferable if the you have a working knowledge of payroll as the role will include collating clocking information and processing of this information into their payroll software (Moneysoft).

The role will work closely with the Finance Officer and the Financial Controller and will require a high level of integrity.

Main duties will include:
High Volume Purchase invoice matching and processing – to include printing emails with invoices and delivery notes attached and the filing of delivery notes
Maintaining spreadsheets
Managing daily post in and out
Receiving and processing all invoices, expense forms and requests for payment
Verifying calculations working with the Accounts system
Managing petty cash transactions
Ordering stationery

Typical qualities of a successful Financial Assistant include:
•Strong understanding of the workings of an office
•Strong understanding of Excel and payroll packages an advantage
•Basic understanding of accountancy and book-keeping
•Would hold or be working towards an AAT certificate or related accountancy qualification
•Excellent interpersonal skills – to deal with customers and external contacts
•Good organisational skills and ability to work to, and sometime implement own  processes
•Confident communicator with a strong academic record
•Ability to work well under pressure, working accurately with attention to detail, and meeting deadlines
•Flexible approach to duties and responsibilities
•Other Ad hoc duties.

The client's hours of work are:
8.30am to 5.30 pm Monday - Thursday
8.30 am to 3.00pm Friday

Salary will be dependent upon experience, but likely to be between £15,000 and £16,000 per year.
