Key Responsibilities and Duties include:
*Managing a small team of accounts staff
*To produce the first draft of monthly and annual management accounts and reports
*Responsible for ensuring all aspects of the accounts department run smoothly, and that all work is produced in an accurate and timely manner
*Resolving accounts related queries from partners and fee-earners within the firm, and from our bankers and suppliers, by email and telephone
*Monthly compliance reporting
*Partner Salaries -amending and setting up standing orders
*Partner Capital -managing the annual capital injection process, including partner loan applications
*Quarterly VAT Return submission, and arranging 'on account' monthly payments
*EC Sales List Declaration submission
*Preparing management and departmental reports at month end and quarter end, including variance analysis and KPI reporting
*Analysis of Debt and WIP data
*Responsibility for preparation and completion of all government surveys
*Assisting with the training of Accounts staff in new processes and systems as they arise
*Assisting with VAT inspections and annual Audit of accounts
*General month end administrative duties, including assisting the team with Management Board
bill checking and write offs
*Dealing with residual client balances
*Managing fee-earner rates and client specific rates in the accounting software
*Preparing ad hoc bespoke reports as requested by Director of Accounts and
Person Specification - experience and attributes required:
*Solid, proven experience of a managerial role within the accounts department of a law firm or professional services firm is desirable
*Accountancy qualification, or qualified by relevant experience, will be considered
*Accurate and organised with a good eye for detail and a strong knowledge of the SARS
*Working well within a team you must also be able to work autonomously and stay focused in an environment that becomes fast-paced at various times during the month
*Excellent communication both written and verbal
*Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism in all dealings
*Confident and highly motivated individual with a proactive attitude
*IT literate, with strong Excel skills
*Client relationship focused and a great commercial awareness
*Familiar with working in a busy, high volume and professional environment and able to prioritise to work to deadlines and with a degree of flexibility
*Evidence of interest in, and commitment to, the success of the firm
*Understanding the company principles
*The flexibility to work outside normal office hours as may be required from time-to-time
