Our client, based in Bradford, is looking for a CCAB qualified Systems Accountant to join their team on a temporary basis.

The purpose of the Systems Accountant role is to review, recommend and implement new processes using new and existing business systems to good effective, efficiency and economy.

The role is reporting to the Financial Controller. With the assistance of external consultants where justified, the Systems Accountant will ensure a successful selection, design, implementation, training and operation of our client's next generation finance system. You will be the controller of the data interfaces to the general ledger and you will be responsible for ensuring business and financial controls are fully embedded within business systems

Main Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the day-to-day administration and maintenance of the financial transaction processing, accounting and reporting system (eFinancials).
* Ensure the integrity of all of the financial values and coding in the accounts system by use of master data structure files thus securing a high level of completeness and accuracy of the financial data set. Monitor and control transfers into the accounts system from other operational platforms including: Integrated HR database and payroll (iTrent), Student Records (EBS) and Student Financial Support (Pay my Student)
* Acting as a first point of contact between third parties, stakeholders and Finance to ensure effective business system solutions are implemented as required.
* Implementing application enhancements, to include change control and release management, bug fixes whilst maintaining up to date and accurate processes, procedural documentation and specifications.
* To be the primary contact for all members of staff in the organisation during the design and construction stages of business system training guides and programmes.
* Lead role in the integrated development of Finance and associated business systems and modules (including reporting applications) ensuring it is cohesive and comprehensive enough for all staff and users.
* Take the lead in the review of the current financials system, to include the design and migration to version 5 of eFinancials or an alternative, if more appropriate.
* Review and maintain the finance system (data tables and data structures), to include: cost centres, chart of accounts, project/job codes and activity codes and their control and application.
* Lead contact for work with external software suppliers on business system implementations and upgrade.
* Document and review sub systems such as the current fixed asset register (including the business process) with the aim of designing a new process if applicable. This will deliver a robust accounting process including an improved reporting facility and audit trail
* Lead on the design, development, implementation and operation of both a data warehousing approach to underpin a new data dashboard approach to financial and non-financial performance reporting.
* Assist in a continuous review of financial policies and procedures and their embedding into business system controls
* Constantly seeking to adopt good practice and top quartile benchmarking performance for business system performance and controls
* As part of the Finance Team to assist in other duties and roles as and when required to provide cover during holidays and busy periods.
