FP&A and Commercial Finance Manager - Purpose of the role:
To support the Director of FP&A to provide a solid FP&A function, timely analysis and insight for the business executive and teams. Also, this role business partners the Commercial Director and his team, as such ensuring a controlled financial and planning environment. This role is also responsible for SG&A support.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Partnering:
- On behalf of the Dof FP&A, make sure that finance have input to all major business decisions relating to Commercial activity, including tenders, promotional analysis, pricing initiatives, trade investment and marketing
- Develop relationships with the Commercial Director and his team to embed financial control, increase understanding of pricing dynamics, trends, key risks and opportunities. This will open the way to effectively challenge.
- Make sure that the business always gets a joined up view of financial results
- Educate the Commercial teams on finance – EBITDA and cash management
- Be an honest broker – focusing on what is right for the overall business
- Develop complete business model
Performance reporting and analysis:
- Develop high quality daily, weekly and monthly reporting which enables the business to understand its financial performance vs budget and vs prior periods
- Provide insight to the business on trends and insights – ad hoc when required. Always looking for profit / cash opportunities
- Ensure effective project support in place
- Drive and Coordinate the forecasting and budgeting cycles with the Director of Finance – ensuring process streamlined and effective and socialised
- Support the Director of Finance in creating long range plans
- Design and introduce rolling 12 month process throughout the business
Team Development:
- Manage an FP&A and Commercial Finance team – currently 3
- Manage performance effectively and strengthen team
- Ensure that development needs of the team are addressed via coaching / training and performance management
- Play a leadership role in the senior Finance team
- Input to Finance strategy and planning (6-18 month timeframe) with a primary focus on execution of these plans.
- Take ownership of special projects that span across Finance
Control:
- Full financial control of P&L reporting, liquidity forecasting
- Working with Financial Control team to ensure an overall safe financial risk environment is in place and working
- Ensure that the business works within the parameters of the governance matrix approved by the Board
- Standardised presentation and working papers
Essential role related knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience
- Qualified accountant with at least 10 years post qualification experience
- Demonstrable experience in Commercial and FP&A within FMCG business
- Useful to have Supply Chain experience
- Integrity and honesty

- Ability to work to very tight deadlines and inspire staff to do the same
