This is a fantastic opportunity to join a newly created function, as part of a well established and internationally recognised Private Bank. They are looking for individuals with previous operational tax experience at multiple levels, and are open to background.

Description

The Operational Tax team's function is to develop, maintain and run Operational Tax Assurance & Control Framework;

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify systemic and non-systemic issues, agreeing actions to mitigate these and tracking their resolution;
  • Chair a monthly Assurance forum, collating all appropriate information and engagement appropriate stakeholders;
  • Provide monthly and quarterly assurance and controls MI through the Assurance forum;
  • Act as technical support to the Frontline, BAU Team, clients and third parties to ensure all compliance activities are adhered to;
  • Lead the engagement with internal and external Compliance functions, Group Internal Audit and Group Operational Tax in respect of the Private Banking Operational Tax Reporting, Assurance and Control processes;
  • Work with the business to ensure it is prepared for external taxation audits and process compliance assessments undertaken by Taxation Authorities in relation to operational taxes (QI, FATCA etc.) acting as Private Banking liaison;
  • Maintain the register of reportable legal entitles. Ensure each entity is correctly classified in the Group EAG or under the auspices of Wealth completing any additional registration requirements on the global tax authority portals;
  • Provide oversight of the PEAR process and the CIC process providing technical support and completing controls and assurance reviews;
  • Ensure client documentation remains compliant, up to date and effective;
  • Lead the annual PB attestation process for all High Value accounts across all relevant business units;
  • Undertake assurance of the annual reporting cycle carried out by each entity ensuring the returns to the relevant jurisdiction are correct and consistent with the relevant legislation;
  • Complete regulatory reporting submissions of all Private Banking entities with robust audit trail;
  • Ensure client notification processes are robust and accurate;
  • Develop and provide focused MI to stakeholders;
  • Engage with industry focus groups and regulatory tax advisory bodies;
  • Monitor and keep up to date with all relevant regulatory best practice developments;
  • Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are followed for all client, business and bank responsibilities;
  • Support Operational Tax Change and IT Teams with forthcoming developments.

Profile

Candidates should have experience in Operational Tax, preferably in a bank or financial service institution.
