Finance Manager
Manchester
£32,000 - £38,000 per annum DOE
Job Description
- Manage the full accounting operations of assigned Villages & Companies, including all monthly reporting to global finance team in Australia
- Monthly forecasting for assigned Villages and Companies with provision of full commentary including variance analysis
- Manage all aspects of the balance sheet including providing full reconciliations on a monthly basis
- Manage the treasury function for assigned Villages ensuring that sufficient funds are available to meet operating expenses and debt commitments at all times
- Work collaboratively with key members of various teams in the organisation to produce the annual budgets
- Preparation of Statutory Accounts and preside over annual audit
- Provide support and training to direct reports
- Provide strategic input, challenge and advice on various financial issues
- Review and supervise monthly / quarterly billing, debt and relationship with external collection agencies
- Preparation of VAT and Corporation tax returns in conjunction with Tax Manager (where appropriate and applicable)
- Lead various projects within the finance team and partner with other departments such as: improvement of finance processes, management of assets and advising of appropriate controls over payroll processes.
Key Competencies and Technical Skills
- Good understanding of financial management in a service based company and up to date knowledge of relevant finance and accounting standards
- Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to liaise with all relevant stakeholders from banking partners and auditors to universities
- Strong attention to detail & problem solving skills
- Ability to deal with and prioritise multiple tasks to meet deadlines
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and intermediate Word skills
- Good understanding of financial accounting and cash management
Qualifications
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or similar
- 5+ years experience in both financial and management accounting
