Head of Finance and Business Development
£55k - £65k
Clatterbridge, Wirral
One of the UK’s leading specialist cancer centres, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust has hugely ambitious plans for making sure that every patient receives truly outstanding care and can access the most advanced cancer treatments and clinical trials.
Right now, we’re expanding with a major 11-floor new hospital in the heart of Liverpool, due to open in 2019 on the same thriving research and healthcare campus as the University of Liverpool and Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
To achieve our bold plans, the Trust has recently established PropCare, a wholly owned subsidiary company with responsibility for providing and managing all of the Trust’s estate and facilities.
The role will initially be based on the Wirral but longer term could be based in Liverpool.
PropCare will enable the Trust to:
- Create an appropriately staffed organisation with a specific estates focus, allowing the Trust to concentrate on the delivery of clinical services.
- Provide the Trust with an opportunity to generate and seek additional income from commercial activity. Income would then be reinvested into the NHS, benefiting our patients and services.
- Follow best practice by separating clinical services from property risk and management so that PropCare can compete on an equal footing with private sector organisations.
The Role:
We now need a Head of Finance and Business Development to join the Propcare Senior Management team. You will:
- Be responsible for the overall financial management and business performance analysis of PropCare.
- Ensure the appropriate financial and commercial reporting is in place for presentation to the Board and to the Shareholder.
- Contribute to the development of the PropCare business plan and marketing strategy and be integral to the on-going development of the PropCare business portfolio.
- Ensure that the correct financial processes and internal controls are in place to support an expanding business.
- Be responsible for the PropCare budgeting, planning and forecasting cycle and the monthly reporting process.
- Contribute to the delivery of the capital and equipment budget including the financial reporting of the new build of the cancer centre.
- Develop and implement PropCare key performance indicators and establish a robust management information and performance reporting system.
The Candidate
- A qualified accountant, with substantial post qualification experience and significant commercial and business development expertise.
- Ability to influence and communicate at both Board level and Operational level together with a business partnering approach to influence change.
- Experience of PFI funding and modelling is desirable but not essential.
- An ambitious finance professional who is attracted by the opportunity to make a real impact on the successful operation of the company and consequently, on the delivery of cancer services at the Trust.
- Ability to communicate and influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Flexible, hands on approach together with an ability to operate at Executive level.
